OSPREY & NOKOMIS | Southwest FL Real Estate

Casey Key

Casey Key is a narrow island just south of Siesta Key and Sarasota spanning the cities of Osprey and Nokomis. It is an isolated gem where you can still find "Old Florida" homes along with luxurious mansions. Dryman and Blackburn Bays surround the east side of the island with the Gulf of Mexico to the west. Oscar Scherer State Park is just inland and Nokomis Beach and North Jetty Park are at the south end of the island. Blackburn Point Road connects Osprey to Casey Key to the north and Albee Road connects Nokomis to Casey Key to the south. The Nokomis Beach is a public beach on Casey Key with 14 miles of white sand, a boat ramp and canoe launch, fishing pier, picnic facilities, playground and restrooms. Music lovers gather there every Wednesday and Saturday 1 hour before sunset for music and dancing.

Osprey

You can find many waterside restaurants in Osprey including Spanish Pointe Pub & Marina, Bimini Bar & Grill and the Casey Key Fish House. Come by car or by water! Historic Spanish Point is also found in Osprey. In the 1800's this area was settled by the Webb family who had a citrus farm there. It was later purchased by Mrs. Potter Palmer who also owned land in Sarasota now known as "Palmer Ranch". Historic Spanish Point is open to the public and you can tour the grounds, residence, chapel and rebuilt packing house where you can see how oranges were packed at the time.

Nokomis

Calusa Lakes is a gated golf community just south of Sarasota and north of Venice near the Legacy Trail. Homes here were built in the 1990's into the 2000's. There are 5 neighborhoods with 575 homes, some which are maintenance-free (lawn maintenance included). The golf club membership is not required but when you become a member it will include membership to 3 golf courses including Calusa Lakes, Waterford and Capri Isles. There is also a restaurant open to both members and non-members which hosts monthly themed parties with entertainment. You will be surrounded by 28 ponds, waterfalls and lakes on 460 wooded acres with tropical landscaping. There are also tennis courts, a community pool, fishing, 2 gates and security guards. Only 2 stop lights separate you and the nearby Nokomis Beach. You are also a short drive to both downtown Sarasota and Venice. Come see what this community has to offer!
